We were delighted to welcome Stephen Morgan MP, Minister for Early Education and Childcare, to Woodlands Park Nursery School and Children's Centre on Wednesday 7th May. His visit marked the launch of the Department for Education’s latest initiative, which highlights the importance of play in early childhood education and its positive impact on children’s development. With the deadline for childcare code applications approaching on 31st March, the campaign also encourages families to explore support options available through the Childcare Choices website. Community and Heritage Celebration Day is a cherished annual event at Woodlands Park Nursery School and Children’s Centre, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our families and community.
Each year, families share traditional dishes, wear national clothing, and showcase cultural symbols, music, and dance. The event helps children appreciate different traditions and fosters respect, inclusion, and curiosity.
This year’s celebration featured a captivating performance from Chickenshed and a wonderful spread of home-cooked meals—thank you to all staff and families for your contributions.
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and look forward to celebrating together again next year!

Join us on Friday 6 February 2026 for Number Day, the UK’s annual maths fundraising day! Schools and nurseries across the country take part in a day full of exciting number-themed activities to make maths fun, hands-on and practical.
We’re excited to celebrate National Storytelling Week! Parents are invited to join us on 4th February to share their favourite stories with the children. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help bring favourite tales to life for the children.
At Woodlands Park Nursery School, we are excited to celebrate Lunar New Year with our children and families. On the day, the children will take part in a range of fun and meaningful activities to help them learn about this special celebration. These will include creative arts and crafts, stories, music and hands-on experiences inspired by Lunar New Year traditions. The children will explore colours, symbols and cultural themes. supporting curiosity, creativity, and understanding of different celebrations around the world. We can’t wait to share our exciting classroom surprises!

We are pleased to invite parents and carers to join their children for a fun and interactive Maths Workshop at Woodlands Park Nursery School. This session will give families the opportunity to explore early maths together through play-based activities, including counting, shapes, sorting and problem-solving. The workshop is designed to show how everyday activities support children’s mathematical development and to share simple ideas that parents can continue at home. We look forward to welcoming our families and learning together!
We would like to thank all our families, staff and community for their contributions to our anal Nursery Harvest Festival. Your support helps make this special event a great success. We are also grateful for the generous food bank donations, which will support those in need.
We will be celebrating National Recycling Week with the children. They will be using recycled materials in our arts and crafts activities, such as tubes, boxes, yoghurt pots, and bottle lids. We will also be using clean packaging in the home corner to support role play, including cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes and washing liquid bottles.
Thank you for your support as we encourage children to reuse, recycle and reduce!
At Woodlands Park, we’re excited to celebrate poetry with our Talking Times! We’ll also be highlighting some of our favourite authors in our upcoming Keep Learning letters. Please share your child’s favourite poems with us on Tapestry.
We all know ‘exercise is good for you’, and The Daily Mile is no exception. There are a wide variety of health and wellbeing benefits associated with daily physical activity and an emerging body of evidence supports the positive impact The Daily Mile can have on children’s health.
At Woodlands Park we will restart our daily mile sessions from 22nd September 2025.
